Science Tokyo Slack

What is Science Tokyo Slack?

Slack has been introduced at the Institute and is used as the official communication tool of the Institute. Please refer to the "Salesforce Slack help center" website listed in the reference link for standard usage and other information.

This page contains excerpts of the initial requirements for starting to use Slack at the Institute. The Institute owns the copyrights to all materials and videos, and any unauthorized reproduction or use of any part of them is strictly prohibited.

Status of Integration

The maintenance to switch the authentication system for Medical and Dental Sciences members logging into Slack from the Medical and Dental Sciences TougouID Portal 「Extic」 to the Science Tokyo Authentication System was completed on August 12, 2025.
Medical and Dental Sciences members now log in via the Science Tokyo Authentication System, unifying the login method.

In order to realize free and flat communication in a safe and secure environment, we have created usage rules and policies.

Users are responsible for their own use of the campus information services, so please check them in advance and abide by them.

Conditions of Use

Slack is available to the following, depending on your status. Depending on your status, you may be able to use Slack through your own authentication system or you may need to apply for Slack in advance.

We are in the process of granting Science Tokyo ID for the use of LMS, but are currently preparing for the use of Slack.

Extended User Use (Guest account) applications

Extended User Use (Guest account) applications are accepted by submitting application forms (Only for faculty and staff, Japanese version only) to Box from the hosting department or responsible person. Please refer to Usage Instructions (Only for faculty and staff, Japanese version only) and the following channels for detailed application procedures.

The login method for guest accounts is different from the standard procedure. Please refer to the instructions here.

Also, temporary guest accounts are available for regular users until regular Slack accounts become available. Please check this channel as well.

Available files

Files (PDFs, documents, images, screenshots, audio, video, etc.) uploaded to a channel or direct message will be stored in Slack with a maximum upload limit of 1GB per file.

Please be aware that unnecessary or large file uploads can lead to unexpected information leaks or other accidents (please use Box or other Institute-provided storage services for data storage)
